Take the First Step

If you think you might be pregnant, waiting to find out for sure can feel stressful. Questions may keep coming to mind as you try to figure out what your next step should be. Getting a reliable answer is often the first step toward moving forward.

At Oxford Women’s Care Center, we offer no-cost, confidential pregnancy testing in a setting that respects your privacy. Our goal is to provide accurate information while making sure you feel comfortable and supported during your visit.

We know that every situation is different. When you come in, you’ll be welcomed into a space where you can take a breath, ask questions, and receive the information you’re looking for.

What Makes Our Pregnancy Tests Different

At-home tests can be helpful, but their results depend heavily on proper timing and use. At our center, we provide lab-quality urine pregnancy testing, which improves reliability and reduces confusion caused by testing too early or incorrectly.

Our nurse manager performs this service and is available to answer questions and explain results clearly. If the test is positive, we’ll take the time to discuss what that means and what steps may follow.

When Testing Is Most Accurate

Pregnancy tests work by detecting hCG, a hormone that increases as pregnancy progresses. Testing too early can result in a false negative, which means you are pregnant, but hCG levels aren’t yet high enough to be detected. For most people, testing one to two days after a missed period provides the most reliable result.

You may notice symptoms such as:

  • A missed period
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Breast tenderness
  • Mood changes

While symptoms can be a clue, the only way to get an initial result is by taking a pregnancy test.

After a Positive Result

If your test is positive, we’ll talk through next steps, including eligibility for an ultrasound referral. An ultrasound is a crucial step in the decision-making process because it helps protect your health and provides clarity as you consider your options.

Your appointment is always confidential and no-cost. We want you to get the answers you need without worrying about the cost, and we’re here to address any questions you may have.
